Children’s Privacy
We are committed to protecting the privacy of children and comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), including the amendments effective April 22, 2026.
Parental Consent. We collect learner information only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Parental consent is verified through the enrollment and payment process, which requires the parent to create an account, provide payment information, and agree to our enrollment contract.
Data Minimization. We collect only the learner information that is necessary to provide our educational services. We do not collect information from learners beyond what is needed for enrollment, instruction, grading, and classroom participation.
No Advertising to Children. We do not use learner data for advertising, marketing, or profiling. We do not serve targeted advertising to children. Facebook Pixel does not run on The Grove or within Canvas, the two platforms learners use.
Third-Party Vendors. Our third-party vendors that receive learner information (Canvas, Zoom, Stripe, Sendlayer) are used solely for educational and operational purposes. We require that these vendors use learner data only for the purposes we specify and not for their own commercial purposes.
Parental Rights. Parents may, at any time:
- Review the personal information we have collected about their child
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of their child’s personal information
- Discontinue further collection or use of their child’s information
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at su*****@********id.com. We will verify your identity before responding to any request.
Retention. We retain learner information only as long as the family is actively enrolled, plus a reasonable period afterward for academic record-keeping (transcripts and progress reports). When a family withdraws and the retention period has passed, learner data is deleted.
Student Records and Educational Privacy
Although Lemons-Aid Learning is not a government school and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) does not legally bind us, we are guided by FERPA principles in how we handle student educational records.
- Academic records, including grades, transcripts, and attendance, are treated as confidential.
- Parents have the right to access their child’s educational records at any time through The Grove and Canvas.
- We do not share student educational records with third parties except as necessary to provide our services (for example, sending enrollment data to Canvas so the learner can access their coursework).
- Teachers access only the records of learners enrolled in their classes.
Sensitive Information
Participants in our Bridge program may provide sensitive personal information, including disability status, health conditions, accommodation needs, and special education records. This information is:
- Collected only with explicit parental consent
- Used exclusively to provide educational support, accommodation planning, and advocacy
- Never used for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to the learner’s educational needs
- Accessible only to authorized administrative staff and the learner’s teachers, as needed to provide accommodations
Some jurisdictions classify disability and accommodation data as consumer health data. We handle this information with the heightened care such classification requires.
Live Class Recordings
All live classes conducted via Zoom are recorded for educational purposes. Learners access live classes and recordings through Canvas, our secure learning management system, where they are authenticated before joining.
- Recordings are available to the teacher, enrolled learners in the same class, and their parents.
- Recordings are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Because classes include multiple learners, your child may be visible and audible in recordings viewed by other enrolled families in the same class.
- By enrolling a learner in a class, the parent consents to their child being recorded during live class sessions. This consent is part of our enrollment contract.
Student and Teacher Content
Students retain ownership of original work they submit through Canvas. We may use student work for internal grading, assessment, and educational purposes only. We do not publish, sell, or share student work outside the educational context without parental consent.
Teacher-created course materials, lesson plans, and instructional content are subject to the terms of each teacher’s employment agreement with Lemons-Aid Learning.
Social Media
Lemons-Aid Learning maintains a presence on Facebook and Instagram. When you interact with our social media pages, those interactions are governed by Meta’s privacy policy. We do not collect personal information through social media beyond what Meta provides to page administrators (aggregate page analytics). If you reference Lemons-Aid Learning in public posts on social media, we may share or feature that content in connection with our marketing.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include:
- Encrypted authentication for parent and learner accounts
- Payment information handled entirely by Stripe’s PCI-compliant secure systems, never stored on our servers
- Role-based access controls, so parents see only their own family’s data and teachers see only the records of learners enrolled in their classes
- Teacher credentials stored securely in Google Drive and Gusto
- Administrative access restricted to authorized staff with appropriate roles
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
- Active accounts: We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or your family is enrolled.
- Academic records: We retain grades, transcripts, and attendance records for a reasonable period after a learner withdraws, so that families can request transcripts.
- Class recordings: Automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Payment records: Retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations.
- Teacher employment records: Retained as required by applicable labor law.
- Deletion requests: Parents may request deletion of their family’s data at any time. Teachers may request deletion of their personal data upon separation from employment, subject to legal retention requirements. Contact us at su*****@********id.com.
