Homework
Expectations & Grading

Homework
Teenage grades

Learners can expect to have homework for some classes. Since we cover an entire semester with only two live classes per week, they will need to work on homework twice weekly to complete all of their learning.

  • English: 1-1.5 hours of homework twice per week.
  • Math: 30-60 minutes of homework twice per week.
  • Science: 30 minutes of homework twice per week.
  • Historia: 20 minutes a week.
  • Español para hispanohablantes: 30 minutes a week.
  • Music: 45 minutes of practice twice per week.
  • Electives such as Bible and theater either have optional homework or very little.

As veteran homeschool moms ourselves, we see the value in grades, homework, and tests to prepare learners to succeed in their learning journey. We have seen learners struggle in college if they don’t learn to take tests or write essays quickly. We aim to prepare them to perform at a high academic level in their academic courses. Accountability in the form of grades, class presentations, and checking in with teachers also increases learning and personal responsibility.

The Schedule

2025-2026 Bilingual High School Pod:

The Support You Need, Just in Case

If your learner needs a little extra support, we have safety nets in place such as additional classes, tutoring, and self-paced courses to fill gaps or offer enrichment. Pod learners have access to these supports at a special discounted rate.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Yes! Yes! We are mission-minded organization and our love for the Lord and intense desire to glorify Him drive us to do what we do. We exist to see children come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and then to grow in wisdom and knowledge so they can walk in a manner worthy of their calling. We want them to develop an authentic biblical worldview. Karen Lemons, the founder of Lemons-Aid, is fiercely protective of the mission and puts all teachers and staff through a rigorous application process. Our teachers have professional development in how to teach with from a biblical perspective.

Yes! All of our teachers have gone through background checks, identification verification, and have training on how to keep learners safe while teaching online. We teach our learners to keep their own personal identifying information private while online. All communication between teachers and students is copied or accessible to parents. We follow COPPA policies to protect young learners while on line. Classes are recorded for transparency with parents.

This pod is designed for heritage speakers and conversational Spanish users seeking to develop academic language proficiency. If you can talk with family in Spanish but struggle with formal communication, we’ll help you strengthen all four essential skills—reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Perfect for those with significant exposure to Spanish but limited formal Spanish education, bolstering your Spanish literacy and preparing you to communicate with Spanish speakers across the globe. If you would like to speak with the Spanish director to see if it’s a good fit for your child, please reach out. We are happy to help you figure it out.

We have capped the secondary classes at 16 learners. Our teachers have experience building relationships with each learner and making them feel special and loved.

To make it easy for parents, we include the cost of materials in your tuition and will send you everything you need. We will even mail you a ukulele! The only exceptions are novels for English and if your learner joins a book club. We do not mail you the books. Some parents like the Kindle version, can use the library, or already have the books. We do offer books for the book clubs as part of our special “library” that comes in a beautiful wooden crate, but this is an add-on fee.

Teachers offer helpful and frequent feedback to learners both on the work they do in class and for homework. This is done verbally, through video recordings, messages, and comments on Google docs. Our elementary learners do not receive traditional grades.

All classes are recorded and enrolled learners will have access to view those recordings.

Each class meets once per week for 45 minutes. Some of the elective classes meet for 25 minutes.

Classes begin Sept 8, 2025 and end May 9, 2026.
Holidays:

  • Columbus Day
  • 1 week at Thanksgiving
  • 2 weeks at Christmas
  • MLK Jr Day
  • President’s Day
  • 1 week after Easter

As we work with your child, if we think we need to do something more, we will let you know. We will give you various options and advice from things you can do at home, to additional group classes and tutoring. We want to see your child grow to love learning and to have success.

The enrollment process is quick and easy. You will follow the process below for each of your learners.

Your learner will be enrolled in each course. You will receive a welcome email with details on how to access the learning platform called The Grove. Your materials will be mailed to you before classes begin!

If you would like to pay for the entire year, you can do so at a discount. Just reach out to ask.

If you live in a state that offers families ESA dollars (Education Savings Accounts), we are an approved vendor in multiple states. View our tuition help page for more information.

If you need help getting your charter school to pay for classes, contact us for support.

The learning done in this pod will properly prepare your learner for the rigors of college work. Our teachers are very good at identifying when a learner needs more challenge, and we work with the students and parents to adapt and modify the learning to meet his or her needs.

We are not a school, so we do not offer diplomas, but we help homeschool families develop their diplomas and transcripts and offer suggestions on creating special graduation ceremonies.

Schools are accredited, and we are not a school. However, we are seeking accreditation as an organization. We can help you, as the homeschool parent, complete everything you need for NCAA D1 course approvals (our courses will get approved). We also help you with transcripts. As the homeschool parent, you are the director of their learning. You do not need accredited courses to get into college.

You can contact us with more questions. We are happy to chat via email, text, or phone call. We can also pop onto a Zoom call to meet you and a group of friends.

Lemonade

The Sweet Not Sour Guarantee

If things go sour, we will do everything we can to turn lemons into lemonade. We’ll make it right. But if you still aren’t happy, we will refund your unused tuition if you withdraw in the first three weeks.
